Holy Jesus!!! My old sketch of Ethnic Jesus Looks Like

Number 7 who's playing on the SuperBowl Looks Like the Ethnic Jesus I Sketched on my Sketch Journal. Colin Kaepernick looks like my ethnic Jesus.

When Coach Jim Harbaugh replaced Number 11- Alex S by Number 7- Colin K, I said to myself  and to my friends " that guy looks familiar but I've never met  him before. Where on earth did I see him previously? It's a 7-11.

Sports' Illustrated cover with coach saying "Holy" to Number 7
It wasn't only when the Sport's Illustrated cover appeared with Coach Harbaugh with a Caption looking up at CK with a word, "HOLY"... and it clicked my mind.

Of course I've seen him before I sketched him in my journal. I've several journals for poems, quotes, calligraphy, drawings, I furiously looked for my journal and found it. These  sketches were done 6 or 7 years ago.

The reason  I was sketching an Ethnic Jesus --- I took Voices of the Nation conference - to pay tribute to people of color. I always pray - Jesus is always painted and depicted as a white person a Caucasian, one with white skin, blue eyes, blondish-brown haired. Jesus lived in Egypt, Galilee, Nazareth, Jordan, Jerusalem - so he must have Middle East Looks and semi-African  in looks with brown-dark skin color.

I was also studying sketches of the great masters like Rembrants, Leonardo,, Michaelangelo, Durer,Hals --- etc..

Jesus waking up Jairus daughter - ala Rembrandt
Jesus at Crucifixion receiving vinegar for a drink - ala Rembrandt

Here is Jesus smiling like Number 7...and other sketches.

Ethnic Jesus with goatee and Long Hair.  Left Hand sketch of Jesus smiling looks like #7

Colin has Biblical verses on his Kaepernicking biceps - he kisses  his biceps. Colin also mentions about 'blessings ' and God.

GO NINERS...

Happy 47th Superbowl day - GO NINERS

Left Over Halloween candies in my 20+ years old Helmet.
My old helmet of the SF 49ers Candy Holder.

You can't tell me I'm just a recent fan who's jumping on the bandwagon. I still have my old SF 49er's Helmet used as a  candy holder and container for knick-snacks of tiny things . It's more than 20 years young.  A top Chief once told me to " throw away your helmet. It's obsolete. The SF 49ers are doing a redesign of the helmet." I said, "No way!".  The fans rebelled and the old helmet design was brought back into its existence. The helmet design is still the same . I also have an old 49ers earrings and blanket. But the  best was- I got a chance to meet the great Joe Montana (he's a sweetheart in person) and Dwight Clark sometime ago who was with his girlfriend at that time.(Another post, the photos are somewhere in the attic).

Hello residents of Planet Earth.  Happy New Year to all and to all those following the blog.  I wish all my friends, relatives and followers - May all your dreams and wishes come true.

Oops - apologizing for late posting since Dec 8, I've been busy with projects with deadlines and when I come home I just want to rest, relax and have a little peace.. I passed 'critical' tests for my project and back to posting.

For 2013, I want to share Lili Cassel Wronker's Greeting from her postcard from New Jersey. I actually want to do a separate post on her and the poem I'd written for Lili  Wronker Enters Time.

Lili Wronker's greeting for 2013

If you're a lettering artists or calligrapher you get lots of beautiful cards and postcards  but I'm placing Phawnda's good wishes for 2013.

Phawnda good wishes for 2013.

I started this blog about Kalligraphia 13 and the pieces that were exhibited.  Since this is year 2013 - what better year than to write about those pieces.
